The ExtraCare Charitable Trust are currently recruiting a Facilities Maintenance Assistant at their New Oscott Village location. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional to join our friendly, dedicated team at New Oscott Retirement Village to support the village's commitment in delivering ExtraCare's mission of “better lives for older people”.

Role Details:
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week (occasional out-of-hour cover required)
- Salary: ÂŁ25,913.41
- Location: New Oscott Village, B23 5GL
What will you do as our Facilities Maintenance Assistant?
- Undertake preventive maintenance duties in the resident's apartments and in the communal areas.
- Be pro-active in the management of void properties, ensure water quality checks and general repairs are undertaken.
- Work with contractors on-site to improve own knowledge of systems and to ensure that they are working to risk assessments provided.
- Record repair requests and defects.
- Attend site on a rota basis in the event of an emergency situation outside of your normal working hours.
- Carry out a handy-person service for the residents, anything from picture hanging to assembling flat pack furniture.
Person Specification:
- Ideally, a facilities background in a multi-dwelling building.
- Skills in carpentry and plumbing.
- Flexible to support the village during emergency situations and outside of normal working hours as required on a rota basis.
- To take responsibility for the repairs and maintenance service with your team on-site.
- Have a working knowledge of MS Word and Excel to maintain a system for logging maintenance requests.
- Be reliable, punctual, and able to work unsupervised.
- Able to demonstrate strong communication skills including empathy.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Committed to health and safety.
- COSHH or IOSHH desirable.
