The Extracare Charitable Trust are recruiting for a Dementia and Mental Well-Being Enabler on a fixed-term contract to join our friendly and supportive team at Longbridge Retirement Village, based in Birmingham. We are excited to be recruiting for a Dementia and Mental Well-Being Enabler to support the village's commitment to delivering ExtraCare's mission of “better lives for older people”.

Role Details:

  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week
  • Contract: Fixed-Term Contract – 6 months
  • Rate: £29,828 per annum
  • Location: Longbridge Retirement Village, Birmingham, B31 2FZ

Essential requirements:

  • Provide one-to-one support to people living with dementia and common mental health conditions
  • Caseload management experience
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in using cognitive assessments

Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to develop empathic relationships with residents
  • Ability to use supervision effectively and self-reflect
  • Capacity to remain motivated even when working under pressure
  • Respect for other people's rights of autonomy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to apply your knowledge of psychosocial and solution-focused interventions to residents' problems
  • Understand the limits of your role and when to escalate cases for clinical input
  • Good IT skills, proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Formal qualification in a relevant field (Health & Social Care, Psychology, Counselling)
  • Good understanding of the psychosocial approach
  • Good understanding of the needs of individuals living with dementia
  • Be able to describe pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for dementia symptoms
  • Good understanding of the needs of individuals living with common mental health conditions
