The ExtraCare Charitable Trust are recruiting for a Volunteer Organiser on a part-time permanent basis, based at our Wixams Retirement Village in Bedford. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Volunteer Organiser to join our friendly team at our Wixams Retirement Village and support the village's commitment in delivering ExtraCare's mission of “better lives for older people”.
Role: Volunteer Organiser
Hours: 20 hours per week
Salary: £13.77 per hour (£14,359pa, pro rata of £26,924pa FTE)
Location: Wixams Retirement Village, Bedford Road, Bedford, MK42 6EA
As our Volunteer Organiser you will have the following skills and experience:
- Lead on the recruitment, retention, and recognition of volunteers both within and outside of the Village in line with the Volunteering strategy and policy.
- Raise the profile of volunteering within the Village to staff, residents, and visitors.
- Work with the Activities Coordinator at the Village to ensure appropriate numbers of Volunteers are available to assist with events and activities.
- Develop partnerships with external organisations such as universities, colleges, and local volunteer centres to build the Village's volunteer base.
- Encourage residents to contribute to the running of their location through volunteering.
- Co-ordinate the induction of all new volunteers.
- Host an annual volunteer recognition event.
Person Specification:
- Effective communication skills and able to build rapport with volunteers and residents.
- The ability to be an effective influencer and engaging.
- Good networking skills.
- Proactive and enthusiastic with initiative.
- Fully flexible as this role requires some weekend working and Bank holidays on a rota basis.
