Transforming our Infrastructure: Chair and Non-executive Directors of the Strategic Investment Board (SIB) SIB will be at the heart of delivering our new Investment Strategy. The Strategy seeks to stabilise and transform infrastructure investment in key areas such as our schools, hospitals, transport, and digital connectivity, and address key infrastructure challenges, so that we can maximise impact with the resources available. SIB is an arm's length body under the sponsorship of The Executive Office (TEO), established under the Strategic Investment and Regeneration of Sites (Northern Ireland) Order 2003.
SIB works extensively in partnership across government in Northern Ireland, supporting and enabling the planning and delivery of a wide range of investment and reform programmes, including infrastructure in its broadest sense. SIB employs a flexible, multidisciplinary team with a wide range of subject matter expertise and leadership experience developed in both the public and private sectors. It has a key role in providing advice and expertise to the Executive and to individual projects across the public sector. We would particularly welcome applications from women, people with a disability, young people and people from minority ethnic groups as they are under-represented across public appointments. These are part time appointments, requiring a commitment of approximately four days per month for the Chair and one to two days per month for each of the NEDs. The term of appointment will be for a term of three years, commencing on the date of appointment.
The Executive Office is seeking transformational leaders with successful track records: A Chair who can set the vision for the future of SIB, aligned to Ministerial priorities, with the drive and ability to realise that vision, together with a keen understanding of our infrastructure landscape; and six Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) who are strategic thinkers with relevant sectoral expertise and the core skills required to provide effective governance.
The remuneration for the Chair is Β£30,000 per annum and Β£11,110 per annum for NEDs. The posts are non-pensionable. Reasonable expenses incurred will be paid at Northern Ireland Civil Service rates.
CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: 12 Noon (GMT) on Friday 6th November 2026 It is anticipated that interviews will be held in Belfast between December 2026 β January 2027.
