We're recruiting for a Project Support and Compliance Officer to join a well-established, fast-paced vehicle conversion and van build operation. This role supports OEM conversion, EV and LCV programmes, helping ensure projects are delivered to customer specifications, OEM requirements and relevant regulations. You'll play a key part in build accuracy, documentation control, type approval readiness and audit compliance across low-to-medium volume conversion and production environments.
Responsibilities
- Provide structured project support across OEM conversion, EV and LCV build programmes.
- Maintain and control build documentation, including build specifications, work instructions, BOMs, conversion packs and technical drawings.
- Track key milestones (design freeze, prototype builds, pilot builds, SOP and customer sign-off).
- Support coordination across engineering, production, quality, supply chain and logistics.
- Assist with supplier/parts coordination, lead time tracking and material availability reporting.
- Support variation control and change management processes.
- Monitor build progress against agreed specifications and raise risks/deviations.
Compliance, type approval & quality
- Support vehicle type approval and homologation activities, including evidence collation and submission support.
- Implement change management in line with type approval regulations within production facilities.
- Ensure conversions comply with OEM standards, vehicle regulations and internal quality systems.
- Maintain controlled documentation aligned with ISO 9001 principles (where applicable).
- Support change control, deviation and concession processes to ensure full traceability.
- Assist with internal, customer, OEM and certification audits, tracking corrective and preventive actions.
- Support compliance with EV-specific requirements, including high-voltage safety processes (where applicable).
- Ensure health & safety and environmental requirements are followed within production/workshop environments.
Reporting & continuous improvement
- Prepare regular project, build status and compliance reports for management and customers.
- Maintain accurate project and compliance data within internal systems.
- Track non-conformances, defects and rework trends.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency and compliance.
- Contribute to lessons learned and standardisation of conversion processes.
- Site-based role with regular interaction across production and workshop areas.
- Occasional travel to OEM, customer or supplier sites may be required.
- Training provided for EV/HV safety and regulatory requirements.
- Role scope may evolve in line with programme and business growth.
Experience & Requirements
- Experience in an automotive project support, compliance or quality role within OEM conversion, EV or LCV environments.
- Understanding of van build, retrofit or vehicle conversion processes.
- Strong attention to detail with proven document control capability.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a production environment.
- Confident communicator across engineering, production and customer teams.
- Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and document management.
Desirable
- Exposure to vehicle type approval, homologation or certification processes.
- Experience working with OEM standards and customer build specifications.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems.
- Understanding of EV systems and high-voltage safety principles.
- Familiarity with project management and change control tools.
