A bit about what you will be doing:
The Operational Trainer plays a critical role in embedding service standards and strengthening operational capability across the group. The role will spend a significant proportion of their time within restaurant environments, working alongside teams during live service to role-model standards, provide real-time coaching and support managers in driving performance. The role is designed to flex in line with business priorities. During new openings, seasonal peaks or targeted performance improvement phases, the emphasis will be heavily operational. During stable trading periods, focus will shift toward structured programme delivery, development coordination and performance reporting. The objective is to ensure that service excellence is consistently delivered and that development initiatives translate into measurable improvements in capability, engagement and commercial performance.
Service Excellence & On-the-Floor Development
- Spend regular time in our restaurants supporting teams during live service to reinforce service standards and guest experience expectations.
- Provide real-time coaching and feedback to FOH and BOH team members to strengthen service behaviours and confidence.
- Conduct service observations and share constructive feedback with management teams to support ongoing improvement.
- Reinforce brand standards and the guest journey across all Evolv concepts.
- On-shift management coaching, post shift feedback and action points.
- Support training delivery during new restaurant openings and major operational initiatives.
Learning & Development Support
- Support the Talent & Development Manager in delivering core learning programmes across the group.
- Assist in coordinating and delivering management development workshops and operational training sessions.
- Support the onboarding and development of newly promoted managers/chefs.
- Help embed Evolv values and service expectations within training activities.
- Assist with the ongoing development and improvement of training materials and resources.
Talent Development Support
- During operational visits, highlight team members demonstrating strong potential and development readiness.
- Provide feedback to management teams to support internal progression discussions.
- Support the Talent & Development Manager with tracking development activity and internal promotions.
- Lead and support the operational teams in completing appraisals. This includes training managers on the appraisal system and delivering completion updates to the wider business.
Apprenticeships & Early Talent
- Coordinate apprenticeship programmes across the group.
- Act as the key contact for external training providers and support learner administration.
- Monitor learner engagement and progress and flag any issues to managers.
- Support restaurant teams in providing effective mentorship to apprentices.
- Lead on group induction ensuring all new employees are set up for success.
Digital Learning & Compliance
- Monitor and support engagement with online learning platforms and training completion.
- Work with restaurant managers to maintain strong compliance training standards.
- Support reporting on training engagement and completion rates.
- Assist in implementing new digital learning initiatives across the business.
Product & Knowledge Development
- Support the delivery of wine and product knowledge training in partnership with internal specialists and suppliers.
- Reinforce product knowledge and storytelling during service coaching.
- Analysis of sales data, to identify knowledge gaps and proactive sales training.
- Help build team confidence in recommending and explaining products to guests.
