Eventus Recruitment are seeking an experienced Executive Assistant to join a well-regarded independent financial planning firm based in St Helens, Merseyside, in a full-time, permanent job. This is a brand new position paying £37,000 to £42,000, with flexibility above for the right candidate, alongside a 5% employer pension, 26 days' holiday rising to 30 days with service, profit-share bonus and private medical insurance.
The EA will work directly alongside the firm's founder and CEO from the St Helens office, sitting between the CEO and the wider team to ensure that client meeting outcomes are converted into action without the CEO remaining in the loop.
About the Role
This is not an Executive Assistant job in the conventional sense. It has been created because the CEO of a highly regarded independent financial planning firm is the operational relay between her client meetings and the wider team — and the firm has identified that as a bottleneck worth solving. The EA steps into that gap: taking what the CEO knows needs to happen and turning it into clear direction for the people responsible for making it happen, without the CEO needing to stay in the loop. The job also carries a visible external dimension — attending meetings and engagements alongside the CEO and managing everything that flows from them — and a written dimension, drafting correspondence and communications on the CEO's behalf.
Key responsibilities include:
- Briefing team managers accurately and completely on client meeting outcomes, so the CEO's time is not consumed by chasing or repeating.
- Attending coaching sessions, networking events and external engagements alongside the CEO and managing all resulting actions.
- Drafting ad hoc correspondence and written communications on the CEO's behalf.
- Supporting diary coordination and schedule management to protect the CEO's time and availability.
- Representing the CEO credibly at external events, with all travel costs covered.
- Working confidently across the firm's modern technology stack, including AI tools, to manage and relay information efficiently.
About You
The right candidate will have built their career in an EA or PA capacity within an FCA-regulated environment — ideally financial planning or financial advisory, though candidates from provider backgrounds or wider financial services will be genuinely considered where operational credibility and cultural fit are clear. What will not fit this job is an IFA administrator or paraplanner background — the experience needs to be shaped around executive support.
Alongside that regulated background, the role calls for someone who can draft clearly in the CEO's voice, pick up new technology without hand-holding, and carry themselves with quiet confidence at external events and in front of senior stakeholders. You should also be able to demonstrate the following:
- EA experience gained within an FCA-regulated environment — financial planning or advisory preferred; provider and wider FS considered where the experience is strong.
- Conceptual understanding of pensions, investments and inheritance tax — enough to accurately absorb, interpret and relay the outcomes of client meetings.
- Confidence with modern systems and technology, including AI tools in a day-to-day professional context.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to draft clearly and credibly on behalf of a senior principal.
- Organised and accurate under a varied and fast-moving schedule, with the reliability that the handoff function demands.
- Credible in external settings — comfortable representing the CEO at networking events and professional engagements.
Benefits and Rewards
The Executive Assistant job comes with a well-rounded package:
- Salary of £37,000 to £42,000, with flexibility above for the right candidate.
- 5% employer pension contribution via salary sacrifice.
- 26 days' holiday plus bank holidays, rising to 30 days with service.
- Option to buy or sell annual leave.
- Profit-share bonus of circa 5% of salary.
- Private medical insurance (after qualifying period).
- 3x salary life cover (Group Life scheme).
- Enhanced sick pay.
- Free parking.
- Travel expenses covered for external events and networking engagements.
- Study support and regular team and social events.
