Job Responsibilities:

• Manage your own caseload of Childcare matters with minimal supervision.
• Provide expert legal advice and representation to clients throughout proceedings.
• Represent parents, children, guardians, and local authorities in proceedings involving care orders, supervision orders, emergency protection orders, and adoption matters.
• Prepare legal documents, court applications, witness statements, and evidence bundles, ensuring compliance with court rules and procedural deadlines.
• Conduct your own advocacy at hearings, case management conferences and trials.
• Work closely with social workers, guardians, experts and other professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes while safeguarding the welfare of children.
• Maintain accurate case records, manage client relationships with empathy and professionalism, and ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and confidentiality requirements.
• Keep up to date with developments in childcare law and family justice procedures.

Person Specification:

• Applications are sought from experienced Childcare Solicitors in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire.
• Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) with experience in childcare.
• Demonstrable experience managing a caseload of public and private childcare matters with minimal supervision.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, court procedures and current developments in childcare law.
• Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and client care skills.
• Ability to build trusted relationships with vulnerable clients.
• Highly organised with excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise a busy and varied workload.
• Strong drafting and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to prepare high‑quality legal documentation.
• Confident communicator with the ability to liaise effectively with courts, counsel, local authorities, social workers, and other professionals.
• Empathetic, professional and resilient, with a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children and families.
• Self‑motivated team player who can also work independently and contribute positively to the wider department.
• Proficient in the use of case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Children Panel Accreditation (desirable but not essential) or a willingness to work towards accreditation.
