Eventus Legal are seeking an experienced Child Panel Member (Child Law Solicitor) to join one of the UK’s leading commercial law firms, based within modern commercial offices in central Northampton, Northamptonshire. This is a permanent, full‑time role with hybrid working, 26 days holiday plus bank holidays, a competitive salary up to £65,000 DOE and bonus scheme, Medicash, pension and bonus holiday scheme.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage a varied autonomous caseload including Care and Interim Orders, Emergency Protection Orders, Special Guardianship Orders, Adoption and Private Children Law.
- Represent children and children's guardians in public law care proceedings.
- Provide expert legal advice and safeguard the best interests of child clients.
- Manage a caseload from instruction to conclusion.
- Prepare legal documents, witness statements and court applications.
- Conduct advocacy at family court hearings or instruct counsel where appropriate.
- Review and analyse evidence, including social work, medical and expert reports.
- Liaise with clients, CAFCASS, local authorities, social workers and other professionals.
- Ensure compliance with legal aid, court procedures and professional standards.
- Maintain accurate case records and meet all court deadlines.
- Supervise junior colleagues as required.
Person Specification
- Qualified Solicitor 3‑5 years PQE.
- Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with a current practising certificate.
- Accredited member of the Law Society Children Law Accreditation Scheme (Children Panel).
- Strong knowledge of public children law, family law and court procedures.
- Excellent advocacy, negotiation and legal drafting skills.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload and work to strict deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with clients and professionals.
