Eventus Legal are seeking a Litigation Legal Assistant to join a busy litigation and dispute resolution team in Northallerton, North Yorkshire. This is a full-time or part-time, permanent job opportunity with a salary of up to Β£28,000 depending on experience. The position is fully office-based, with the full-time hours being Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm with a one-hour lunch break. Role Responsibilities

This Litigation Legal Assistant job will provide comprehensive administrative support to fee earners within a small, busy department handling a varied caseload of litigation and dispute resolution matters. The work can include commercial and contractual disputes, property and landlord and tenant disputes, professional negligence, will and inheritance disputes, debt recovery and other civil litigation matters. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing client matters accurately and promptly using the firm's Actionstep case management system, in line with internal standards and regulatory requirements
  • Preparing, organising and archiving legal files and supporting documentation
  • Managing fee earner diaries, including arranging client appointments and other meetings
  • Preparing client correspondence through audio typing, word processing and digital dictation
  • Handling client and third-party telephone calls, enquiries and requests in a professional and efficient manner
  • Managing incoming emails, post, photocopying and associated administrative work
  • Preparing court documentation, including e-bundles
  • Preparing client bills and assisting with account ledgers
  • Providing support to other legal assistants, fee earners and the wider management team as required

Person Specification

The firm is open to considering applicants from a strong legal secretarial or administrative background as well as those operating at Legal Assistant or Paralegal level. Previous experience working within litigation or dispute resolution is essential. You should also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Strong verbal communication skills, with a professional and approachable manner when dealing with clients and colleagues
  • Clear and accurate written communication, with good grammar, punctuation and attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing tasks and manage time effectively
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and confidence using legal case management systems
  • The ability to work collaboratively and positively within a team
  • Experience preparing legal correspondence and documentation within a litigation environment
  • A reliable, client-focused approach and the ability to handle sensitive matters professionally
