Eventus Finance are looking for a Finance Assistant to join a highly regarded organisation in Manchester, who are committed to providing safe and affordable housing. This role is four days a week with the option to work a couple of days from home, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and genuine opportunities for career progression. In addition, this Finance Assistant job will suit a professional who is studying towards their AAT and can demonstrate a background in bookkeeping or general finance.
Job Responsibilities
The incoming Finance Assistant contributes to strong financial controls, provides timely financial information, and supports the smooth running of day-to-day finance tasks across the organisation. The day-to-day responsibilities in this finance job are to:
- Process supplier invoices, ensuring correct coding, approval, and posting
- Maintain the purchase ledger and resolve invoice queries with internal teams and suppliers
- Prepare weekly/fortnightly/monthly supplier payment runs
- Monitor supplier accounts and reconcile statements
- Raise rent and service charge invoices or assist with rent posting where relevant
- Process income receipts, including rent receipts, grants, and other funding streams
- Chase outstanding debts and support the income recovery processes
- Conduct daily/weekly bank reconciliations
- Post bank transactions to the finance system
- Monitor cashflow and flag variances or concerns to the Finance Officer
- Prepare journals, including accruals, prepayments, and corrections
- Support the month-end and year-end timetable by providing accurate and timely data
- Assist with maintaining fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules
- Assist with collecting and preparing information for budgets and forecasts
- Produce routine financial reports for managers, including spend-to-budget summaries
- Support data entry and analysis for regulatory reporting (e.g., Housing Regulator requirements)
- Keep financial systems and databases accurate and up-to-date
- Maintain organised digital and paper records
- Support the implementation of new finance processes or digital improvements
Person Specification
The successful Finance Assistant will be a competent and collaborative team player with the ability to produce accurate work. In addition, to be successful you will possess the following skills and attributes:
- AAT Level 2 or Level 3 (or working towards) - or equivalent bookkeeping/finance qualification.
- Good GCSEs, including Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above).
- Evidence of ongoing professional development in finance, accounting, or business administration
- Experience working in a finance or accounts assistant role, preferably within a small or medium-sized organisation
