Eventus Legal Recruitment is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join the Residential Conveyancing team of a highly regarded regional law firm in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. This is a permanent job position, which could be either full or part time, offering a salary of £28,000 to £34,000 (depending on experience), hybrid working with two remote working from home days per week, 27 days holiday plus bank holidays, additional leave at Christmas, pension contributions, and life assurance.

The successful Legal Secretary will join one of the largest Residential Conveyancing teams in the South East. The department advises an extensive range of clients, including existing clients of the firm as well as new clients who have been recommended. This Legal Secretary opportunity in Tunbridge Wells, Kent would suit an organised and experienced residential property support professional who enjoys working in a lively, fast paced and client focused environment.

Role Responsibilities

The successful Legal Secretary will provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to solicitors and fee earners within the Residential Conveyancing team. The day to day responsibilities of the Legal Secretary in Tunbridge Wells, Kent will include:

  • Providing high quality secretarial and administrative support to Residential Conveyancing solicitors and fee earners
  • Preparing, formatting, amending and proofreading correspondence and legal documents
  • Submitting applications and dealing with documentation through HM Land Registry
  • Completing and submitting Stamp Duty Land Tax forms
  • Ordering residential property searches and managing search packs
  • Opening new matters and ensuring files comply with the firm’s procedures
  • Maintaining electronic and paper files throughout the progression of each matter
  • Using Elite 3E and other case management systems to record and update matter information
  • Managing diaries, arranging meetings and monitoring important dates and deadlines
  • Liaising professionally with clients, solicitors, agents, lenders and other external parties
  • Assisting with billing, financial administration and the closure of completed matters
  • Supporting the wider Residential Conveyancing team with general administrative duties when required
Person Specification

To be successful in your application for this Legal Secretary role in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, you will have previous experience supporting a residential property department within a law firm. Applications are welcomed from candidates with either residential or commercial property experience. You will also possess the following experience, skills and attributes:

  • Previous legal secretarial, legal assistant or residential property administration experience
  • Experience of HM Land Registry processes and documentation
  • Familiarity with Stamp Duty Land Tax submissions
  • Experience of ordering searches and managing residential property search packs
  • Confidence using legal case management systems, with Elite 3E experience advantageous
  • A good understanding of residential property terminology and legal processes
  • Strong typing, document production and proofreading skills
  • Excellent administrative and organisational abilities
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work accurately to deadlines
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Discretion when handling confidential and commercially sensitive information
