Eventus Recruitment are seeking an IFA Technical Administrator and Report Writer to join a well-established wealth management practice in Knutsford, Cheshire. This is a full-time, permanent job paying £40,000, with a 4% annual bonus, 5% employer pension, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, study support and hybrid, flexible working for the right person.

As the incoming IFA Technical Administrator and Report Writer you'll join a practice of five advisers and a support function that has been properly organised around them. The job is built around established report frameworks and templated suitability letters rather than whole-of-market research, which means less time buried in comparison tables and more time in front of clients. Accuracy is expected, but so is the confidence to pick up the phone, and that combination is what the practice is really after.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the technical point of contact for the advisers, from new business through to ongoing reviews
  • Producing clear, compliant suitability reports and recommendations
  • Constructing and maintaining planning solutions across investment, retirement, tax and estate planning
  • Preparing client review documentation including cashflow updates and investment performance analysis
  • Obtaining and analysing product information, quotes and illustrations to support comparisons
  • Supporting preparation for and attending client meetings
  • Liaising with clients and third parties to keep cases progressing
  • Assisting with tax calculations and keeping current on templates and regulatory change

About You

The right person here is as comfortable talking to a client or an adviser as they are getting a report right. Technical accuracy is the entry ticket, but the practice wants someone personable who will settle in and stay. You should also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Paraplanning or technical administration experience within an IFA or wealth management firm
  • Experience producing suitability reports and cashflow models
  • Strong understanding of financial planning principles and regulatory requirements
  • Confidence using templated suitability letters and report frameworks
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong numeracy and analytical skills
  • Confidence dealing with clients and third parties, with discretion
  • Strong Excel and Word skills
  • Calm and resilient when handling competing demands

Benefits and Rewards

As well as a salary of £40,000, you'll join a small practice that is genuinely well run and offers the following:

  • 5% employer pension contribution
  • 4% annual bonus
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Study support if you want to take your exams
  • Hybrid and flexible working for the right person

About the Firm

The employer is a well-established wealth management practice in Knutsford, in the region of £300m under management, built by a lead adviser with over twenty years in regulated advice behind him. Five advisers look after a client base of business owners, senior corporate executives and retired private clients, with services spanning investment, retirement, inheritance tax, protection and intergenerational planning.

What marks this practice out is the people running it, who have a reputation for being relaxed, fair, transparent and genuine, and the fact that a practice manager was brought in specifically to get the systems and processes right. Exams are supported for anyone who wants to take them, and the working balance is a real one, hybrid and flexible for the right people with genuine value placed on collaborating in the office.
