Eventus Legal are seeking a Senior Private Client Solicitor to join a progressive regional law firm in Farnham, Surrey.

This is a full time, permanent job position offering a salary of £55,000 to £75,000 depending on experience, with hybrid flexible working available after probation, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, performance related bonus scheme, company pension, and free parking onsite.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Private Client lawyer to manage technically complex work, supervise junior colleagues and contribute to the continued growth of a well regarded department.

Job Responsibilities

As Senior Private Client Solicitor in Farnham, Surrey you will manage a varied caseload and provide technically strong, practical advice to individuals and families on a broad range of Private Client matters.

  • Manage your own caseload from instruction through to completion, including complex and high value Private Client matters.
  • Advise high-net-worth individuals and families on Wills, succession planning, estate planning and Inheritance Tax mitigation.
  • Draft complex Wills and trust documentation and advise on the creation and administration of lifetime and testamentary trusts.
  • Handle trust registration, ongoing trust management and related taxation matters where appropriate.
  • Manage complex probate and estate administrations, including high value and taxable estates, and advise executors, trustees and beneficiaries.
  • Advise on Lasting Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection matters, deputyship applications and attorney support services.
  • Supervise junior solicitors, legal executives and support colleagues, providing technical guidance and day-to-day support.
  • Contribute to business development and networking, building relationships with financial advisers, accountants and other professional referrers.
  • Produce articles, seminars and marketing content to support the continued growth and profile of the Private Client department.

Person Specification

The successful Senior Private Client Solicitor will be technically confident, commercially aware and committed to excellent client care, with the ability to work autonomously on complex matters and support the development of others.

  • Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive.
  • Significant experience in Private Client law.
  • Strong technical knowledge of trusts, estate planning, Inheritance Tax, probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection work.
  • Ability to independently manage complex Private Client matters from instruction to completion.
  • Excellent drafting skills and a clear, practical approach to client advice.
  • Strong client relationship, networking and business development skills.
  • Experience supervising junior team members.
  • Commercially aware, empathetic, approachable, organised and proactive.
  • STEP qualification, or progress towards STEP, is highly desirable.
  • Solicitors for the Elderly accreditation is highly desirable.
  • Experience acting for business owners, landed estates and high-net-worth clients is highly desirable.
  • An existing professional referrer network is highly desirable.
