Eventus Legal are seeking a Junior Family Lawyer to join a growing specialist family law firm in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. This is a full-time or part-time, permanent job position offering a salary of £35,000-£40,000 dependent on experience, flexible start and finish times, with the potential for agreed hybrid working once a sufficient caseload has been established. The firm is open to applicants who are still completing their legal qualifications as well as newly qualified lawyers, with practical family law experience and the confidence to take instructions and progress files under appropriate supervision being more important than a particular level of post-qualification experience.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Taking instructions from new and existing clients and identifying the relevant legal and practical issues
  • Managing and progressing family law files with appropriate supervision
  • Handling matters involving divorce and dissolution
  • Assisting with and progressing matrimonial finance matters, including financial remedy proceedings and negotiations
  • Handling private children matters under appropriate supervision
  • Drafting clear and accurate correspondence, statements, applications and other case documentation
  • Providing practical, proportionate and client-focused advice at a level appropriate to your experience
  • Communicating professionally with clients, solicitors and other parties throughout matters
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Family Law team and wider firm
  • Developing technical knowledge, case-management skills, commercial awareness and confidence through regular supervision and file reviews

Person Specification:

  • Practical experience of family law, gained in a paralegal, trainee, newly qualified or comparable legal position
  • Sufficient hands-on experience to take client instructions and progress files with appropriate supervision
  • Experience of divorce and dissolution, matrimonial finances and private children matters
  • Confidence communicating with clients and dealing sensitively with personal and often complex family circumstances
  • Clear and accurate drafting skills
  • A professional, organised and collaborative approach to managing files and priorities
  • Good attention to detail and sound judgement
  • Confidence using case-management systems and Microsoft Office
  • A willingness to learn, take feedback and continue developing technical and commercial skills
  • An interest in building a long-term career within family law
