Main Job Purpose: Developing, driving and delivering event sales to maximise occupancy, and convert revenue for the business. Once the business has been converted, acting as an account manager for the client to help drive sales through key account management.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- To effectively sell the smaller event spaces by liaising with clients in an attempt to win new business for the venue.
- To take ownership of an event from the first point of enquiry, through the sale process until the point of contract, then handing over to the planning team for the event logistics. Continue to develop the account to win more business.
- Conduct pricing and contract negotiation in line with sales strategy to increase the utilisation of the venue’s event space.
- Use innovative and proactive methods to nurture and develop existing accounts to secure repeat business and new events.
- Handle enquiries supplied by New Business Manager.
- Host clients for site visits, menu tastings and other on and offsite hospitality to win business and develop account relationships.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the various services offered to support clients in as much of the event planning as is required (e.g. food and beverage choices, AV and theme requirements).
- To support Head of Sales, New Business Manager and Senior Sales Managers with work on lost business and lapsed accounts where necessary.
- To produce, distribute and manage all the administrative paperwork for each event up until contract stage.
- Ad-hoc sales and marketing duties, including client entertaining, attending networking events and exhibitions and menu tastings as required by Head of Sales.
Qualifications/ Experience: The ideal candidate will display passion and drive for the events industry and have some event sales experience, i.e., in a venue or events company. Alternatively, they must have a degree and demonstrate suitable transferable skills from previous employment roles.
