The Electric Vehicle Network (EVN) is seeking an experienced and motivated Town Planner to join our growing Pre‑Construction team. This role is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Town Planning professional looking to work at the forefront of the EV infrastructure industry and contribute to the development of multi‑million‑pound projects across the UK.

As the Town Planning Lead, you will help to secure planning consents for a wide range of development projects, from EV charger installations on existing retail sites to new commercial developments with integrated EV charging hubs.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications

  • Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
  • 3+ years’ experience in development management within a planning consultancy or local authority.
  • Demonstrable experience preparing and submitting planning applications across the UK.
  • Ability to manage and progress multiple planning applications simultaneously.
  • Good understanding of UK legislation as it pertains to planning and infrastructure.
  • Good understanding of, and interest in, the EV industry including EV charging technologies.
  • Desire to contribute to the initial layout and design of development sites.
  • Proven track record of successful planning approvals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, coordinate, and manage planning documentation and full planning applications.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders, including external consultants and contractors, to produce comprehensive planning application packs and ensure planning risks are minimised.
  • Collaborate with the wider Operations team on site design.
  • Monitor and evaluate progress and outcomes of planning submissions.
  • Collect, maintain, and analyse planning‑related data and information.
  • Carry out pre‑application feasibility studies and site assessments to evaluate planning risk and likelihood of approval.
  • Apply strong problem‑solving skills to overcome challenges during the application process.
  • Conduct site visits where required to support accurate appraisals and submissions.
  • Support other planning and development‑related tasks as needed.

The chosen candidate would be expected to contribute to work across all areas of the Operations team but would also gain exposure to other related areas such as Finance, Legal and Sales. The chosen candidate would need to have good IT skills, including the ability to use MS Teams. A full UK driving licence would be preferable; however, if a full licence is not held, the ability and willingness to travel is important. Training and guidance will be provided as required on additional project development roles.

Depending on the location of the applicant, this is a hybrid role with 3 days in the London Office and 2 days home working. If this applicant is not within close proximity to London, the role will be home working focused with planned trips to the office. A competitive salary and package is offered.
