As the Commercial Director you will be supporting the VP GM Commercial and UK Executive Leadership Team to grow the business through the and development of strategic growth plans, building strong relationships with retail partners and exploring new business opportunities.
Description
Strategy
- Support the development and execution of the regional channel strategy
- Development of strategic growth plans by retailer, identifying key building blocks, aligning with retail partners and brands, across all channels (bricks and clicks), including a deep understanding of the retailer, the consumer and the business driving levers.
- Implementation of strategic plans, setting milestones and success criteria.
Trading
- Working with the Brand and functional teams be responsible for overall sales performance of specific retailers.
- Support the brands in the delivery of the monthly/quarterly sales goals.
Retailer Relationships/Operations
- Hold regular and ongoing retailer meetings
- Collation of brand issues/ discussion points prior to retailer meeting and follow up with Brands post meeting

- Review of business performance
- Addressing specific brand and cross brand issues where support is required, including stock, marketing support etc.
- Identifying new opportunities
- Organisation of meetings and briefing notes for:
- Retailer induction meetings
- Retailer meetings
- Top to top meetings
- Negotiation of trading terms with retailers with regards to margin, payment terms, staffing costs etc.
- Cost price changes: communication and follow up.
- In conjunction with the brands support in corporate retail staffing discussions with the retailer, in line with the regional strategy to optimise investment in this area.
- Partner with Store Design to manage store refits, site allocations, space management within retailers, capital expenditure budget negotiations Assess risks and make recommendations based on a thorough analysis of all factors involved in a business situation.
Internal
- Active involvement in planning and participation in regular commercial led meetings: Multi-Brand Retailer meeting, Commercial Forum, NAM meetings etc. Following through on all opportunities/issues arising
- Ensure two-way communication with brands and functions.
- Encourage and support the development of function to function retailer partnerships, e.g. finance, supply chain etc.
- Lead and/or support additional commercial projects as and when required
Team
- Where relevant, lead, manage and develop a Commercial Manager, to build capability, develop retail partnerships and maximise sales and profitability.
Qualifications
- Ability to work at both a strategic and operational level, being able to see bigger picture while also be able to get into the detail with a hands-on approach.
- Strong commercial acumen, with excellent numeracy, analytical and negotiating skills
- Builds and develops strong collaborative companies, both internally and externally to maximise business opportunities and resolve issues.
