Esland Daven School is an established specialist provision, supporting children and young people aged 8–18 with SEND and SEMH needs. We are seeking a committed and skilled SEN Teacher to work primarily with primary level pupils. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience in phonics.
The role

As a SEN Teacher, you will play a key part in delivering meaningful, well‑planned learning that places relationships, emotional safety and progress at its heart.
You will be supported to:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons across core subjects, tailored to individual needs
- Work with Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) to support both academic and personal development
- Contribute to EHCP reviews and PEP meetings with clear leadership guidance
- Create a calm, safe and inclusive classroom environment
- Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff, families and external professionals
- Promote safeguarding and pupil wellbeing, with strong systems and senior support in place

Requirements for a SEN Teacher
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree
- Experience teaching primary level across a range of subjects
- An understanding of SEND, particularly SEMH
- Experience of teaching at primary level
- Experience in phonics
- Strong inclusive teaching and behaviour‑support strategies
- A clear commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare
- A calm, reflective and relationship‑focused approach
- Excellent communication and team working skills
- A commitment to learning, development and good practice
