About the role
As a Project Manager covering the North of England, you will be responsible for delivering habitat creation and enhancement projects safely, on-time and to budget. This is an exciting role for a forward-thinking Project Manager where you would work closely with our ecologists, habitat delivery specialists and land managers to plan and deliver habitat creation works across your region. Project management will start with managing the programme of ecological design work through the legal process, into the live, capital works window of habitat creation and then onto the long term asset management schedule. Capital works would include creation and enhancement of a range of habitats including, woodland and scrub, species rich grassland, wetland, and associated infrastructure works.

Responsibilities
Working alongside EB ecologists, habitat creation specialists and land managers as part of 'project teams' with responsibility for the delivery of our habitat bank network. You will take a lead in organising and chairing meetings, creating and managing the project risk register, creating and managing the programme using information supplied by the designer (ecologist), habitat creation specialist, environment consents manager and contractors. Safe Delivery of the Projects, managing compliance and promoting a positive safety culture into all activities undertaken on the project. Taking specifications from ecologist and habitat creation specialists and lead on the procurement and awarding of works to suitably vetted contractors and suppliers and managing the timely payment of these contractors. Managing the budget for the habitat bank site and reporting forecast against spend. Reviewing and reporting against contractors and delivery partners KPIs. Managing the programme to ensure they are completed to the highest quality, to an agreed timescale, taking account of seasonal constraints, and within budget. Managing the change control process on the project. Managing the assurance schedule on the project. Maintaining high quality relationships and communicating effectively with project team members. Providing progress updates and key reporting on the project and keeping relevant project systems updated. Organising and chairing lessons learned sessions and collate outputs and disseminate.

Essential
APM accredited or equivalent. Educated to a degree level in a relevant subject. Or equivalent work experience. Proven ability to lead and drive a multi-disciplinary project team, ensuring delivery of all contractual outputs to cost and to plan. Management of Project Control function covering Planning, Estimating, Financial Control and commercial management disciplines. Excellent communication and presentation skills – ability to deliver key messages efficiently and effectively, tailoring the approach to the audience as appropriate, in order to promote action. Project Management skills – strong understanding of the hard and soft aspects of programme management. Competent in time management and possess high degree of emotional intelligence and the ability to build consensus. Experience of delivering projects with consent/permit restrictions and/or seasonal constraints. Experience of risk management. Full UK clean driving license and willingness to travel for regional site visits and events.

Desirable
Exposure to habitat creation/restoration and the delivery of nature recovery projects, of which some time should have been in a project role. A Health and Safety qualification e.g. NEBOSH/IOSH.
