About the Role
Can you inspire hope for the most vulnerable young people? Are you an enthusiastic, creative teacher looking for a unique and rewarding role? Do you have a passion for working with young people and believe that sport has the power to change lives? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
We are looking for a dedicated and adaptable teacher to join our alternative education team at England Sports Group. You don’t need prior experience in secondary education—what matters is a confident, innovative approach to inclusive teaching!
For those with SEN and SEMH needs, attending school can feel impossible. Overwhelming classrooms, lack of understanding and pressure on resources often leaves them without vital support and many end up as unwilling or unable to attend. Being out of education or struggling in the classroom, these young people are desperately in need of your experience, expertise and understanding. If you feel you can make a worthwhile difference and have an interest in delivering sports education to young people, then this may be the job for you!
Working with small groups, you will deliver Level 2 NCFE sport courses to students in Year 9 – Year 11 as part of a bespoke learning programme designed around your student’s needs and interests. All lesson plans and resources will be provided, but you must show an ability to adapt them where necessary. The role will also include after school sports coaching and directing holiday camps in the surrounding area.
Benefits
- All teaching resources and lesson plans provided
- An IQA direct line manager to train and support you throughout the role
- Dedicated paid hours for planning and marking
- £30,000 salary
- Paediatric first aid qualification supplied
- Level 3 safeguarding supplied
- Leadership and CPD training supplied
Due to the nature of the work and our commitment to safeguarding our students, you will be required to undergo thorough background checks including ID, Right to Work and employment checks and will also require an enhanced DBS.
Work Location: In person
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience working with vulnerable children or young people with additional needs (SEN, SEMH needs, at risk individuals, and other barriers to learning)
- Experience with lesson planning.
- Experience coaching sport or playing sport to a good level.
- Consistent availability to commit to 5 days per week for the academic year (September – July).
- Available to work in the holidays to direct camps.
- A commitment to keeping children and young people safe and a practical and up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding.
