Job Details
Job Title: Plumbing Heating Engineer
Location: Field-Based (working within a 60-mile radius of Stevenage)
Salary: Competitive
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
About The Role
This role involves performing all aspects of work on domestic plumbing, gas and heating systems, within customer premises at a radius of 50 miles from Head Office in Stevenage. Jobs include but are not limited to installing, maintaining, and repairing domestic plumbing, gas and heating systems and fixtures. Fitting and repairing various household heating, gas and water appliances. Cutting, soldering, and assembling pipes, tubes, fittings, and fixtures. Inspecting and testing domestic gas and plumbing systems for safety, functionality, and code compliance.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Installations, inspections, diagnosing problems/faults/leaks, testing, repair, and maintenance of all types of domestic heating systems. This includes boilers, pipes, and associated fixtures and equipment.
- Preparing basic reports.
- Identify hazards, defects, and the need for replacement, adjustment, or repair; to ensure compliance with agreed codes, laws, working practices, and health and safety
- Carry out planned tasks in accordance with contract/agreed requirements on services and associated systems
- Carry out tasks within agreed time limits
- Ensure compliance with agreed codes, legislation, and procedures including health and safety
- Maintain accurate records/documentation associated with your work
- Report problems/failures that may impact the organisation and/or its clients/customers to the Line manager
- Meet your targets and contribute to those of the team as a whole
- Contribute towards the smooth running of the team
- Adhere to all organisation policies and procedures
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Take responsibility for identifying variations to any schedule of works and reporting these to the applicable Works Manager.
- Manage own time effectively.
Skills
Essential
- NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing and Domestic Heating Systems. CCN1 core and appliances, CEN1, HTR1, WAT1, CKR1.
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- To hold the following insert as applicable, e.g., be registered on the Gas Safe Register or have sufficient ACS Accreditations to attain Gas Safe Registration
- Minimum 5 years\’ experience in a similar role
- Requisite knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the trade
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations for this role
- Have skills in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of residential heating systems.
