Overview
About The Job – Bristol. Salary: Circa £46,000- £55,000 depending on experience. Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3 days per week on-site due to workload classification. Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The Opportunity
An opportunity to lead the delivery of MBDA's future anti-ship / deep strike capability integrated in the Maritime domain. This is working as part of the wider Mission Planning & Control team developing future deep strike / anti-ship capability. This is a role which requires strong team leadership, stakeholder management and customer engagement and systems engineering capability. This role pushes MBDA's Mission Planning function beyond its traditional areas of interest so provides an exciting opportunity to grow capabilities and develop valuable expertise.
The Role Covers
- Leading a small team delivering the Maritime Anti-Ship / Deep Strike Mission Planning (Maritime MP) product
- Acting as Product Owner and Design Authority for the Maritime MP product
- Working closely with other Mission Planning leads across Product Design, Variant Design, Architecture and V&V to ensure coherence
- Engaging with wider project stakeholders within the Weapon System, munition system and Maritime Delivery domains, as well as other partner nations
- Provide first line management to team members with support from the STRATUS LO Mission Planning & Control Lead
- Working across the whole systems engineering lifecycle and managing key artefacts from requirement elicitation and derivation through to delivery
- Engaging with end users and customers to ensure product meets their needs and is fit-for-purpose.
- Managing the associated budget to deliver the Maritime MP product.
- This role provides the opportunity to take ownership of a product variant whilst ensuring it still aligns with the wider Mission Planning delivery, as well as being able to get hands on as the product progresses.
What We're Looking For From You
We are looking for a delivery focused and capable Systems Engineer who can provide leadership and management for a small team and engage with a wide range of stakeholders. Desired skills and experience include:
- Ability to lead small teams to achieve planned outcomes
- Experience delivering maritime systems or working within the maritime environment is highly desirable
- Strong Systems Engineering capability and experience
- Excellent technical problem solving skills
- Work Package Management experience
- Ability to work effectively within cross functional teams
- Ability to lead within a matrix style structure
- Appreciation and understanding of working within a MBSE approach
- Proficiency in engineering tools and configuration control
- Ability to effectively communicate at all levels, including with customers and end users
- An appreciation of the software development lifecycle.
