An independent games studio is looking for an experienced Backend Developer to join their fully remote team. The company specialises in high-quality online slot games for a global audience and is expanding their development team with someone who can take ownership of server-side game logic from initial setup through to live launch.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain server-side components that power real-money online games, with a strong focus on game logic.
- Collaborate with front-end engineers, game designers, and mathematicians to deliver fully integrated, high-performing gameplay features.
- Optimise performance and scalability to support high user loads.
- Write clean, testable code and contribute to CI/CD workflows.
- Stay informed on industry trends and proactively suggest improvements to systems and architecture.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in backend development, ideally in the gaming or gambling sector.
- Proficiency in Python and experience building game logic or high-throughput backend services.
- Understanding of probability and statistics as applied to game mechanics.
- Familiarity with secure server development and performance optimisation.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote-first environment.

- CI/CD pipelines
- Google Cloud or similar platforms
- Automated testing frameworks
Nice to Have
- Experience with Node.js or TypeScript
- Knowledge of real-money gaming regulations or game certification processes
