I am currently recruiting for a Risk Control Consultant to join my clients team based in the UK. You will be a strong advocate for Risk Control, giving risk management advice and seeking to become the trusted advisor for their insureds.

What Will You Do?

  • Conducting risk control surveys at client locations to determine potential hazards and risk factors to be considered in underwriting/risk selection. This could involve assessing fire, business interruption, health and safety, motor or products liability exposures.
  • Writing technically detailed reports that provide a clear assessment of risk and clearly articulates recommendations.
  • Consulting with clients on ways to control hazards in order to reduce or prevent losses.
  • Influencing clients to implement recommendations.
  • Building and maintaining productive relationships with underwriting and service teams assigned to support the business, with the broker/agent community, with Claims, with other Risk Control staff, and with clients.
  • Conducting research for underwriters or clients on class of business, operations, unique or unidentified exposures, or any other technical subject requiring similar analysis.
  • Coordinating and overseeing key large accounts and managing large customer relationships.

You’ll need:

  • Experience in safety, risk control, or related fields including but not limited to construction, manufacturing or relevant military experience or bachelor’s degree in related field required.
  • Must be able to attain appropriate certification to meet legal requirements where applicable.
  • Planning and organising: Able to self-manage and prioritise multiple demands and effectively communicate with stakeholders.
  • Communication/Influence: Confident communicator with the ability to successfully engage in more pressured and/or difficult situations. Strong listening and writing skills with the ability to assimilate information and respond to stakeholders in verbal and written communications.
  • Teamwork: Coaches and supports others and is a proactive positive contributor in own and other teams. Identifies and takes the lead in promoting opportunities for development and/or improvement.
  • Experience: Likely has a relevant risk management and/or insurance related professional qualification supplemented by knowledge gained through on the job experience.
