Are you passionate about helping pension schemes achieve successful buy-out and wind-up outcomes? Do you thrive in a client-facing environment where your technical expertise, project management skills, and relationship-building make a genuine impact?
We’re working with a market-leading consultancy with the UK’s largest and most experienced Pension Risk Transfer team. Due to continued growth in the de-risking market, they’re expanding their Post Transaction team and are looking for an experienced Consultant or Senior Consultant to join their award-winning practice.
You’ll be joining a collaborative team of over 35 specialists who work closely with trustees, sponsors, and insurers to ensure seamless transitions from buy-in to wind-up — supported by strong insurer relationships and deep technical expertise.
🔑 Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a variety of projects supporting schemes transitioning from buy-in to buy-out and full wind-up.
- Act as the key point of contact for trustees and other stakeholders during the post-transaction phase.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, advisers, and insurers to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Create and manage detailed project plans, tracking progress against timelines and ensuring key deliverables are met.
- Lead on key decisions by preparing recommendations and advice for trustees and sponsors.
- Identify and resolve issues pragmatically throughout the transition process.
- Attend and contribute to industry events, business development activities, and new business tenders.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a consistent, high-quality experience from transaction to wind-up.
✅ What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in pensions consulting or within a bulk annuity provider.
- In-depth knowledge of UK DB pensions, buy-in/buy-out processes, and post-transaction insurer requirements.
- Solid understanding of the legislative and regulatory landscape surrounding pension scheme wind-ups.
- Strong project management skills with experience developing and owning project plans.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders including trustees, employers, and insurers.
- Excellent communication skills — confident presenting to clients and leading meetings.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Commercial awareness and experience managing project budgets and risks.
- Experience contributing to new business tenders (desirable).
- Passion for mentoring and developing junior team members.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-growing and highly respected team at the forefront of the UK’s pension de-risking market.
