Purpose

Act as a technical role-model for the wider analyst team helping to coach, lead and train junior analysts. Design, build and implement pricing models and develop rating logic to meet defined requirements in line with policies, procedures and standards. Utilise specialist statistical pricing techniques, software skills and industry experience to improve the technical capability of the team and make recommendations to ensure the effective development and delivery of price.

Accountabilities

  • Lead on and be the technical expert and referral point for a range of complex pricing analyses e.g., data engineering, predictive analytics, model build and design.
  • Design, create, review and continuously improve models / rating algorithms / performance reports and effectively communicate results & insights to inform business decisions in line with regulatory and reporting requirements.
  • Take responsibility for reviewing the quality control processes, pricing models and data to ensure they continually deliver the outputs required.
  • Utilise technical expertise to coach, mentor and train team members, to improve technical capability and improve the ability of team members to self-manage their own work.
  • Build and maintain relationships across Underwriting, Pricing, the wider Group and Programmes to influence where needed and ensure effective creation of solutions, development and delivery of price.
  • Effectively communicate the outcomes of analyses, taking ownership of follow-up action to ensure an effective service to the team and business stakeholders.
  • Identify and support the development and implementation of improvements and changes to processes, procedures and practices to ensure efficiency and customer service improvements and benefits are fully realised.

Qualifications

Hold one of the following; degree (must be numerical), ACII, Accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA), MBA or FIA.

Experience and Knowledge

The following experience is desirable:

  • Significant experience of working in a pricing team in a technical capacity.
  • Conducting advanced pricing analyses e.g. demand or loss cost models, RADAR algorithm constructions, customer impact analysis.
  • Experience of making technical recommendations.
  • Advanced software expertise – EMBLEM, Radar, R.
  • Advanced progress towards, or completion of a professional qualification.
