Job Role Summary

Job Role Summary – Pastoral manager. This role is responsible for leading and embedding a strong, consistent culture of attendance, behaviour, and safeguarding across the school and college, under the direction of senior leadership. The postholder will oversee and coordinate the pastoral team, ensuring high‑quality, consistent systems and practices that support student wellbeing, engagement and outcomes. Key responsibilities include implementing and improving policies, analysing and using data to drive interventions, and working collaboratively with staff, families and external agencies to remove barriers to learning. The role also involves leading on safeguarding processes, behaviour management and attendance strategies, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice. The postholder will act as a key point of expertise on pastoral matters, manage complex cases and support vulnerable students through targeted interventions. They will also contribute to staff development, lead pastoral initiatives and events, and provide regular reports to senior leaders and stakeholders. Overall, the role plays a critical part in promoting inclusion, safeguarding and positive student development, ensuring all learners are supported to succeed and prepare effectively for adulthood.
