About The Practice

The Elms Medical Centre is a well‑established training practice providing patient‑centred care for our population of 9,850 patients. We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our experienced and friendly team on a salaried GP position working six sessions per week. The post holder will support the clinical team to manage a busy and interesting surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out all the clinical duties and responsibilities of an NHS General Practitioner using the standards expected by the GMC and RCGP, in line with appropriate national and/or local guidelines.
  • Surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, triage, home visits, checking and signing repeat prescriptions.
  • Participate in our total triage system and take part in on‑call or duty doctor responsibilities.
  • Make professional autonomous decisions regarding presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation.
  • Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Record all relevant data to aid the practice in meeting its performance targets.
  • Compile and issue computer‑generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
  • Prescribe in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever clinically appropriate.
  • Undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
