We are a caring, compassionate, forward thinking, friendly, coordinated, enthusiastic Partnership of doctors who enjoy working with an Elms team of Nurses, Minor illness clinicians, Paramedic, Care Co-ordinators, Health Care Assistant and an extended PCN team of Clinical Pharmacists, Social Prescribers, First Contact Practitioners. Together, we are a highly trained and motivated team. We are also a very dynamic and enthusiastic training practice, passionate about staff development. We are an active, leading, and zealous member of the Harpenden Health PCN.
We have regular nurse meetings, MDT meetings and training events to encourage learning, sharing and discussion, and a dedicated GP Nurse lead. We pride ourselves on our friendly supportive staff. We are well organised, high achieving and adapt to an ever-changing working environment. We provide general medical services to approximately 17,500 patients in a desirable commuter belt suburb and are looking for a qualified registered Nurse. Salary will be competitive and based on experience and ability. The ability to do immunisations and dressings is essential; however, other areas of Practice Nursing can be developed through training.
Responsibilities include:
- Cytology
- Wound care / ulcer care
- Removal of sutures
- New Patient Medicals/Urinalysis
- Travel Clinic
- ECGs
- Asthma/Peak Flow Readings/Spirometry
- Hypertension service (Training provided)
- COPD service (optional)
- Venepuncture
- Aural care and advice
- Routine immunisations/Childhood immunisations
- Travel Vaccinations
- Flu clinics (including Saturdays in September - October)
- Chaperoning and assisting patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician
- Assisting GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings
- Requesting pathology tests, for example urine culture, swabs
- Interest in Diabetes or Coronary Heart Disease and Contraception
- Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate
- Prescribing within area of competence
- Family Planning
Qualifications and requirements: Qualified registered Nurse. The ability to do immunisations and dressings is essential; however, other areas of Practice Nursing can be developed through training.
