The Elms Surgery are seeking an experienced, motivated, and highly organised Registered CQC Manager to join our friendly and forward-thinking GP surgery. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in ensuring our practice delivers safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led services while maintaining full compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards.

Main duties of the job

  • Acting as the Registered Manager with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
  • Leading the practice's CQC compliance programme and maintaining inspection readiness.
  • Developing and embedding robust governance and quality assurance systems.
  • Managing risk management, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Leading investigations into incidents, significant events, and safeguarding concerns.
  • Maintaining the practice risk register and ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.
  • Coordinating audits and ensuring improvements are implemented.
  • Reviewing and updating practice policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring mandatory regulatory compliance.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement, patient safety, and learning throughout the practice.
  • Monitoring mandatory staff training regulatory compliance.

About us

We are an EMIS-based practice serving approximately 9,000 registered patients in Central Watford, with excellent transport links via the Underground, rail, and major motorways. Our practice is supported by an experienced and dedicated management team, alongside a skilled administrative and reception team committed to delivering high-quality patient care. The multidisciplinary clinical team includes 3 GPs, 4 Physician Associates, a Clinical Pharmacist, a Nursing Team, a Care Coordinator, and a Social Prescriber. Regular clinical and administrative meetings foster effective communication, collaboration, and continuous service improvement across all staff groups.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care
  • Masters degree holder in Business Administration (MBA) or Public Health (MPH) or related field

Experience

  • Previous experience managing CQC compliance and inspections
  • Excellent knowledge of the CQC Fundamental Standards and NHS Primary Care regulations.
  • Excellent IT skills and experience using Microsoft Office and GP clinical systems.
  • Experience working within a GP practice or Primary Care setting
