We are currently looking for an experienced Medical Secretary to join our friendly team; the post is part-time, 30 hours per week, to be worked over 5 days. Pay scale will be in accordance with experience. EMIS Web clinical system knowledge and Choose & Book Referral knowledge is essential. If you can work under pressure to a high standard, are flexible and reliable, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills we would like to hear from you.

Main duties of the job:

  • To use EMIS Web, Choose & Book and preferably Lexicom.
  • To provide general secretarial support to the Doctors and Health Professionals involving word processing and audio typing skills with general clerical work.

About us:

We are a small friendly team consisting of GPs, a Salaried GP, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, In-house Pharmacist, Practice Nurses, a Nurse Associate, Health Care Worker and a robust administration team.

Job responsibilities:

  • To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for GPs and Health Professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals etc. in an accurate and quality manner.
  • To assist the Practice Manager with all clerical and administrative duties.
  • To make appointments, bookings and admissions as required.
  • To establish and maintain filing and administrative systems so that written or computer information is easily accessible and secure.
  • File patient records and correspondence in patient medical records.
  • To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, dealing with appropriate queries.
  • To maintain the computer clinic system in an accurate and secure manner.
  • To assist with the gathering of statistics and information when required.
  • To provide cover for members of the secretarial team during periods of sickness and annual leave.
