At The Elms Academy, we live by our school motto to ‘be exceptional’. To achieve this, we need the best staff to bring out the best in every single student. For many of our children, this means equipping them with the knowledge, ambition, and skill to attend university and go on to have a meaningful career. We have a relentless focus on high standards, whether this is on the learning in classrooms, our students’ interactions around the Academy, or in raising their aspirations. We don’t overcomplicate things: teachers teach, and students learn. Anything that takes away from this core focus must come second. We believe exceptional learning is about determining the simple things that work, doing them well, and doing them all the time.
If you’d like to join us on this mission, please come and visit us – we’d be delighted to welcome you. The Elms Academy is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life-changing education to children and young people across England. United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All positions are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online check. We always appoint on merit, and we are open to discussing flexible working options.
We are looking for a professional, organised, and friendly Office Administrator & Receptionist to join our Academy team. As the first point of contact for visitors, parents, pupils, staff, and external stakeholders, you will provide a welcoming and professional front-of-house service while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the Academy. Working closely with the Office Manager, you will assist with Academy-wide administration, undertake delegated tasks, manage enquiries, and ensure that administrative processes are completed accurately and efficiently. This is a varied role that requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
About You: You are a highly organised and approachable individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You enjoy working in a busy environment, are able to manage multiple priorities effectively, and take pride in providing a high standard of customer service. You will be confident using Microsoft Office applications, have strong administrative skills, and be able to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. A positive attitude, a proactive approach, and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, parents, colleagues, and visitors are essential for success in this role. Previous experience in an administrative or reception role is desirable, and experience within an educational setting would be an advantage. This role requires a proactive, reliable, and adaptable team player who can work both independently and collaboratively. A commitment to supporting students’ learning and development is key, along with a willingness to share knowledge, take part in further training, and go the extra mile to enrich students’ experiences. A GCSE-level education including Maths and English is essential.
