The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

Basis: Permanent, Full time 36 hours per week. A £312 tax-free working from home allowance is also payable annually.

Location: Cardiff, Belfast, Edinburgh (Hybrid – min. 2 days in office) or Remote (UK).

About the role: As a Graphic Designer, you will develop and deliver high-quality creative design across print and digital channels. You’ll play an important role in helping colleagues communicate clearly and effectively supporting voter engagement, corporate reporting, and campaigns that reach a wide range of audiences. Working across the organisation, you’ll manage multiple design projects from concept through to delivery, ensuring outputs are visually compelling, accessible, and aligned with our corporate identity.

You will:

  • Produce engaging and accessible design solutions across a variety of formats.
  • Manage projects from briefing through to final production, balancing multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Provide professional creative advice to colleagues across the organisation.
  • Build in review and feedback processes, including accessibility checks and translations.
  • Work with external suppliers and freelancers, ensuring delivery to time and budget.
  • Maintain and develop brand templates and assets, supporting consistent use across teams.
  • Identify and share best practice and new approaches to improve design impact.

About the team: You’ll be part of the Communications Directorate, a collaborative and supportive team responsible for how the Commission communicates internally and externally. The team works closely with colleagues across areas including voter engagement, policy and research, helping translate complex information into clear, engaging communications. There is a strong focus on quality, accessibility and consistency, with design playing a key role in delivering this. This is a team that values creativity, continuous improvement and shared learning - making it a great place to develop your skills and contribute new ideas.

Who we’re looking for: This role would suit a creative and organised designer who enjoys working collaboratively and managing a varied workload. You’ll be someone who takes pride in producing high-quality work and is motivated by creating accessible, inclusive design.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience working as a Graphic Designer, ideally within an in-house or similar environment.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Experience working with suppliers, budgets or external resources.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • A solid understanding of design principles, typography and colour.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design approaches.

It would also be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience with motion graphics or video tools (e.g. After Effects, Premiere Pro).
  • Familiarity with web design or basic HTML/CSS.
