The Edward Betham CofE Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and caring Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our high-achieving two-form entry school in September 2026. Graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2024 and ‘Excellent’ by SIAMS in 2022, our school enjoys a strong reputation. Parents and carers are highly supportive and positive about the education their children receive.

The HLTA will play a key role delivering high quality teaching and learning across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. You will report to the Deputy Headteacher and work closely with class teachers across the school. Experience of working with children with SEND would be beneficial.

To join us on our learning journey you will be able to demonstrate:

  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification
  • Excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to contribute to planning, preparation and delivery of agreed work and support programmes to individuals, groups or classes
  • Experience in leading whole class learning, covering PPA and staff absence
  • Ability to insist on high standards of behaviour and academic outcome, enabling all pupils to flourish
  • Ability to use a variety of strategies to engage and support children in their learning
  • Enthusiasm for collaborative working and an ability to contribute to planning and to provision for pupils with SEND
  • A willingness to support the school’s Christian ethos
