We are currently recruiting for Specialist Learning Support Assistants for a specialist setting in Stockport that caters for children and young people aged 5-18. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the learning of students with a diverse range of special educational and learning needs. You will also assist the teaching staff in helping pupils develop independence, actively engage in the curriculum, and fully participate in the broader school community.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting students and providing a safe, friendly, and stimulating environment to learn in.
  • Assisting in the support of pupils who can respond with behaviour which challenges.
  • Understanding and implementing Individual Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) as outlined for each student.
  • Adapting support styles working with different vulnerable young people.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Appropriate academic qualifications, at a minimum of GCSE level, or professional qualifications equivalent to NVQ Level 2, or demonstrate competency through relevant experience in a similar position.
  • Relevant experience in a similar setting.
  • Effective interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
