Permanent SEN Teacher - Specialist Education Setting

Location: Greater Manchester

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:15am-4:00pm, term time only

Contract: Permanent

Start Date: ASAP / September 2026

The Education Specialists are recruiting on behalf of a specialist education setting in Greater Manchester for a passionate and experienced SEN Teacher to join their dedicated team on a permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified teacher who is passionate about supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs, SEMH and complex learning needs, and who wants to work in a specialist environment where relationships, engagement and individual progress are at the heart of education.

The Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of pupils. You will work closely with Teaching Assistants, support staff and the wider school team to create a positive, structured and nurturing learning environment.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience supporting pupils with SEMH, Autism, ADHD, challenging behaviour, school refusal or other complex needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons adapted to individual learning needs
  • Provide effective teaching and support for pupils with SEN
  • Develop positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Manage behaviour confidently using positive and consistent strategies
  • Monitor progress and adapt teaching accordingly
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants and wider support teams
  • Contribute to individual education and support plans
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive attitudes towards learning
  • Maintain high expectations while recognising individual barriers to learning
  • Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times

We Are Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience working within SEN/SEND education
  • Experience with SEMH and challenging behaviour highly desirable
  • A calm, resilient and nurturing approach
  • Strong classroom and behaviour-management skills
  • The ability to differentiate effectively
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A genuine passion for helping pupils overcome barriers to education
