HLTA – Year 8 Teaching Opportunity

An exciting opportunity to make a real difference

We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate, and resilient Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our strong and supportive team, working with a Year 8 class with SEMH and complex needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of attachment and trauma, alongside the empathy, patience and resilience needed to build trusting relationships with pupils who may have experienced significant challenges.

The role

As an HLTA, you will take an active teaching responsibility within the Year 8 class. You will provide whole-class input, as well as working with small groups, supporting pupils to access learning and make progress.

You will work closely with the teacher and wider team to:

  • Deliver engaging whole-class learning and support pupils with diverse needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships based on empathy and consistency.
  • Support pupils with SEMH, attachment and complex needs.
  • Adapt learning and approaches to meet individual needs.
  • Contribute to a calm, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a committed and supportive team.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15am–3:15pm

Duration: Long-term position – Full Academic year

A fantastic opportunity to progress

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious HLTA who is considering their next step in education. There is scope to develop your teaching responsibilities and progress towards a full teaching role, with the opportunity to build your confidence, experience, and professional skills in a supportive environment.

If you are a dedicated practitioner who believes that relationships, consistency, and high expectations can transform outcomes for young people, we would love to hear from you.

Join a strong team, make a difference, and take the next step in your career.

As part of our registration process, you’ll need an enhanced DBS check and we’ll need to see and copy your original qualifications before any placement. Teaching roles require Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

We’re proud to be an inclusive employer, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds and committed to creating accessible opportunities across education.
