The Education Specialists (TES) are partnering with primary schools across the Wirral to recruit nurturing, enthusiastic and dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistants for short‑term, long‑term and day‑to‑day cover roles. Key Responsibilities of an EYFS Teaching Assistant:
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, play‑based learning in line with the EYFS framework.
- Assist in creating a safe, stimulating and inclusive Early Years environment.
- Support children’s learning through structured activities and child‑led play.
- Work with individuals or small groups to develop early literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
- Encourage pupils’ social, emotional and behavioural development.
- Help with personal care routines where required (e.g. toileting, hygiene).
- Observe, record and report on children’s progress in line with EYFS assessment practices.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents and carers.
Who Can Apply to be an EYFS Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working within an EYFS setting (Nursery or Reception) is highly desirable.
- A sound understanding of the EYFS framework and child development.
- A caring, patient and enthusiastic approach to supporting young children.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- An Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Childcare qualification is preferred; candidates with a PGCE or relevant Early Years experience are also encouraged to apply.
