The Education Specialists are delighted to be working together with The Learning Partnership Trust, recruiting a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream school in North Staffordshire, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs. This is a full-time, long-term position, working with pupils who require additional support with learning, communication and personal development. The school caters for pupils with a variety of needs and provides a highly supportive environment with experienced staff and access to specialist training, making it an excellent opportunity for a SEN Teaching Assistant looking to develop their experience.

SEN Teaching Assistant role requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or within an SEN setting
  • Experience supporting pupils with a range of additional needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD)
  • Strong communication, patience and resilience
  • Ability to build positive and consistent relationships with pupils
  • A proactive and adaptable approach
  • Willingness to support with personal care if required (training provided)
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will:

  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Assist with both learning activities and personal development
  • Support pupils with communication, behaviour and engagement
  • Help create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCO and wider support staff
  • Adapt support strategies to meet individual pupil needs
