Southern Road Primary School is looking for an inspiring, highly motivated and experienced SEN teacher with expertise in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to join our dedicated staff team. The school is a large primary setting with a strong commitment to inclusive practice and supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism. Pupils are supported within the classroom where appropriate, alongside targeted small group interventions such as Attention Autism, life skills and music which take place in our SEN classrooms.

The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCo and Speech and Language Therapist to plan and deliver high-quality, evidence-based specialist teaching for pupils with significant sensory needs within our SEN classrooms. They will be responsible for modelling best practice and leading support staff to ensure consistently high-quality provision for all pupils in their care. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date assessment records, sharing successes with parents as well as embedding consistent routines will be crucial.

Southern Road is seeking a teacher who has:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with pupils with Special Educational Needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, or learning difficulties)
  • Strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices and differentiation
  • Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting all learners
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A commitment to raising standards and meeting individual SEND needs
  • The motivation, determination and energy to support the vision of Southern Road Primary School
