What you’ll be doing

  • Serve as the named governance professional for a minimum of one governing board
  • Apart from physical attendance at meetings, deliver all clerking services remotely, independently, and to a high standard
  • Develop and manage annual meeting calendars in collaboration with school leaders and governors
  • Organise and administer meetings, including agenda creation and document distribution
  • Attend meetings, take accurate minutes, and provide regulatory advice in real time
  • Follow up on meeting actions and ensure boards maintain compliance with all governance requirements
  • Manage governor appointments, including declarations and interests registers
  • Support statutory duties
  • Lead procedural support for complaints, exclusions, and appeal hearings
  • Promote The Education People\'s resources and attend relevant CPD sessions, which will be paid for.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience working independently (in an administrative or governance role would be a bonus)
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and online meeting tools
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with professional judgement
  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
  • Understanding of governance structures in schools and relevant legislation (desired but not essential)
  • Proven minute-taking and document management experience (desired but not essential)
  • High attention to detail, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • A collaborative and solution-focused approach
