We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of this role and shape how we tell stories across our brands. This is a writing-led position focused on creating insightful, well-structured content - from education news articles and case studies to expert interviews, how-to guidance, podcasts and webinars - all tailored to different voices and brand tones. You’ll be proactive in spotting opportunities, translating complex educational topics into engaging content, and collaborating with subject experts across the business. While an awareness of marketing is helpful, this is not a marketing-focused role; you will be supported by dedicated marketing specialists, allowing you to focus on content quality, editorial direction and storytelling.
Who we are
The Education People, part of Commercial Services Group, have been supporting people to deliver the things that matter to the lives of children for many years and can proudly say that each of our education services is brought to you by experts in their field. Our expertise ranges from school effectiveness to equality & inclusion, from financial management to professional development alongside a whole range of other areas. Wherever it’s possible to provide education support services, we are committed to doing just that - whether it’s expert training, online education events or downloadable resources.
Why this role matters
As our Content Manager you will take ownership of content across our Children & Education portfolio via Education Hub and wider channels. You will shape tone of voice and messaging and create engaging content that builds awareness demand and retention. You will work closely with teams across Commercial Services Group to understand services and trends so that you can turn insight into strong stories that resonate with educators.
What you’ll be doing
- Repurpose long form content into assets for multiple channels.
- Write, edit and optimise long form content including blogs, customer stories, newsletters and product pages.
- Uphold correct tone of voice and messaging of the subject experts and brands across the portfolio.
- Deliver The Education People and Education Hub content strategy.
- Localise content for key segments in the education sector.
- Own and manage the editorial calendar in line with campaign plans and update internal communications.
- Upload, edit and format content across CMS platforms.
- Lead content quality checks to ensure consistency.
- Create a variety of customer facing engaging content including guides, newsletters, videos, podcasts, events and thought-leadership articles.
- Work with service teams and brands to source features and editorials.
- Write compelling case studies with subject matter experts and partners.
What we’re looking for
- Experience in content research, writing and editing.
- Strong written English with excellent attention to detail.
- Understanding of the education sector is essential.
- Hands on experience with CMS systems such as Umbraco, HubSpot or WordPress is beneficial.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
- Confident working with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills.
- Familiarity with marketing automation and digital tools.
- Understanding of design briefing, video scripting and content governance.
- Degree in English or PR, or relevant experience.
- Able to take ownership, work autonomously and deliver at pace to deadlines.
What you’ll get in return
- Salary of £36,233 per annum.
- 25 days annual leave, increasing to 30 days after 5 years’ service.
- Life assurance cover.
- The Education People’s pension scheme provides an 8% employer contribution with a 2% minimum employee contribution.
- Additional benefits including retail and gym discounts, health cash plan and cycle to work scheme.
- Volunteer days and access to a comprehensive wellbeing programme.
- Tailored learning and development support with real opportunities to progress.
