Primary SEN Graduate Teaching Assistant

Do you want hands‑on experience supporting KS2 pupils with Autism before progressing into teacher training or educational psychology?

Could you deliver calm, consistent 1:1 and small‑group support that helps pupils access learning and build independence?

  • Immediate start until July 2027
  • £80 - £100 per day
  • ‘Good’ primary school, Wolverhampton
  • Support for KS2 pupils who have Autism

The Role

You’ll work closely with the SENCO and class teachers to provide structured support for KS2 pupils with Autism. Day to day, you will implement visual timetables, break tasks into manageable steps, and use clear routines to reduce anxiety. You’ll run short interventions targeting communication, social skills and core learning, record simple progress notes, and share next steps with staff and parents.

The Candidate

You’re a graduate with a patient, empathetic manner and strong communication skills. You can follow support plans, maintain consistent boundaries, and adapt activities so each pupil can participate fully. You’re organised, reflective, and motivated to help children overcome barriers to learning.

Requirements

  • Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
  • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Desire to work in education/with children – Genuine interest in SEN, pupil wellbeing, and progress.
  • Experience working with children – Any relevant experience (SEN support, mentoring, tutoring, volunteering) is desirable but not essential.
