The Education Network

We are working in partnership with a respected Alternative Provision in Northumberland and are recruiting Teaching Assistants for roles across multiple sites starting this September.

If you\'re patient, empathetic, and passionate about helping young people thrive in education, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Provision:

This multi-site setting provides education for students across Key Stages 2–4 who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream schools. Many learners have SEMH, ASD, or other additional needs. The provision offers a supportive, therapeutic environment where strong relationships and consistent support are key.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  1. Work closely with students on a 1:1 or small group basis to support learning and emotional development.
  2. Help implement personalised support strategies in line with EHCPs or behaviour plans.
  3. Assist the class teacher in managing behaviour and creating a positive, structured classroom.
  4. Support social interaction, engagement, and confidence building in pupils who may struggle with trust or routine.
  5. Act as a positive role model and provide a calm, consistent presence throughout the day.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs (education, youth work, or care background welcomed).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A calm, empathetic, and resilient nature – essential in an AP environment.
  • Team player with a flexible and proactive approach.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through us).

If you are interested in this role, please email rachael.chapman@ednetwork.co.uk with an up-to-date CV, or call us on 0191 823 97 52 for an informal chat about opportunities.
