Superb boarding school based in Horsham

Provide academic, pastoral and boarding school support through hockey.

The Role

As a Hockey Graduate Academic Coach, you will support pupils both academically and pastorally while leading and assisting with hockey across the school. You will coach hockey as your main sport, support PE and wider physical activity sessions, help with fixtures and team management, and contribute to the organisation of a busy sports department. You may also support additional sporting activity where required as part of the wider programme. The role is varied and hands-on, with responsibilities that can include lesson support, supervision, match-day duties, administration and helping to maintain high standards of behaviour, punctuality and professionalism. The underlying school role this is based on combines sports delivery, practical support and involvement in the broader life of the school.

The Candidate

You will be a graduate with strong hockey knowledge, the confidence to coach and motivate young people, and the professionalism to work in a structured boarding school environment. You should be organised, reliable and able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff. This role would suit someone considering teacher training, school sport, pastoral work or a longer-term career in education. You do not need to have your whole life mapped out in a leather notebook, but you do need energy, resilience and a willingness to get involved fully in school life.

  • Strong hockey coaching ability and a genuine interest in working with young people
  • Clear communication skills and a professional, organised approach
