We are looking for dedicated and adaptable tutors to work on a 1:1 basis with students outside of a traditional school setting across the Gateshead area. This role involves supporting learners who are currently unable to access mainstream education. Sessions may take place in community settings or within the student's home, with hours varying depending on individual needs.
The role:
- Deliver tailored, person-centred 1:1 sessions to support academic progress and engagement
- Teach both Maths and English from foundation level up to GCSE
- Adapt teaching approaches to suit individual learning styles and needs
- Build positive, consistent relationships with students
- Support learners in developing confidence and re‑engaging with education
- Work towards clear academic outcomes, maintaining a results‑driven approach
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people
- Ability to confidently teach Maths and English up to GCSE level
- Person‑centred, results‑driven and confident in your approach
- Background in SEND or alternative education is desirable
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Patient, flexible and resilient
