We are working with a specialist provision in Gateshead seeking a PMLD Teacher for a maternity cover position starting in September. This is a small, highly focused class setting where teaching is tailored entirely around the needs of each learner. You will be responsible for a group of three pupils aged approximately 5‑15, all with profound and multiple learning difficulties. The role is ideal for a teacher who values creativity, adaptability, and highly personalised approaches to learning.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver highly individualised, sensory‑based learning
- Adapt teaching to meet complex and profound learning needs
- Lead and support a small team of Learning Support Assistants (LSAs)
- Work closely with therapists and external professionals
- Support pupils in achieving EHCP targets and developmental milestones
- Create a safe, calm, structured, and engaging learning environment

Monday to Thursday Full‑day teaching commitment Maternity cover starting September
Qualifications
- Experience working with PMLD or pupils with complex needs
- Confidence leading a small team within the classroom
