About the Role:
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join a welcoming specialist school in Gateshead. This role involves supporting children within Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 (KS1) who have a range of special educational needs. You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop social skills, and build confidence in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
- Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and personal development
- Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
- Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting back to staff as required
Qualifications
- Experience working with children with special educational needs (preferred)
- A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting young learners
