We are currently recruiting a dedicated 1:1 SEMH Support Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in schools across Newcastle Upon Tyne. This role involves working closely with individual pupils, helping them overcome barriers to learning, manage their emotions, and achieve positive outcomes both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships.
  • Support emotional regulation and behaviour management.
  • Encourage engagement in learning and school activities.
  • Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults.
  • Background in education, support work, youth work, care, coaching, or mentoring desirable.
  • Patient, resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
